Oddities of France

This is a page of the differences between France and America that I have experienced.

1. The toilet paper is pink!
2. You have to sometimes pay to use the bathroom.
3. The French are a lot nice than we give them credit for.
4. France has these awesome coffee vending machines that pour your drink for you. It is an amazing invention, and I don't know why America doesn't have them!
5. Shops close early and restaurants open late...a tad inconveinant.
6. The markets are amazing and have awesome deals. I wish America had them.
7. Weather in northern France pretty much sucks. It is always windy, cold, and rainy.
8. I love that the tip is included at restaurants.
9. I hate that they don't split checks at restaurants. Paying all together can get pretty complicated.
10. I grown to love une carafe d'eau! (Free water at restaurants).
11. Meals here take a lot longer than America.
12. Bathrooms are weird here. Usually guys and girls have their own toilets, but you share the sink area. It is weird to be able to see guys use urinals. However, the actuall stalls are more private than America. A toilet usually has its own room as opposed to a stall, which is nice.
13. On the subject of bathrooms, I like that there is a big button or small button you can press to flush the toilet. I hope you can guess why.
14. There aren't recycle bins on the streets really, which upsets me. France is conservative in a lot of other ways, though. I just wish I could do my idividual part and recycle more.
15. The French eat A LOT of bread and not enough veggies.
16. Men are not chivalrous here compared to America. They don't hold doors open for girls or buy drinks for girls. I still like them though!
17. Europeans must have small feet because it was hard to find size 9 shoes.
18. There is no A/C, which wasn't really a problem until the last week when it got hot.
19. There is never ice in your drink.
20. The French are so stylish, put together, and classy. They make Americans look like complete slobs!
21. You can seriously buy a bottle of wine for one euro.
22. I love Carrefour, the main chain super market.
23. Everyone drives cute, little hatchback cars.
24. Metros are sooo convenient. I love them because it makes getting around so easy!
